Prior to the adoption of Christianity entered St.Vladimir, the Slavic tribes that inhabited the Kievan Rus, professed pagan religion. Its essence — worship is not one, but several gods, as was the custom among all the peoples of pre-Christian period. In addition to the pantheon of major gods, which included Perun, Hors, Dazhdbog, Stribog, Simargl and Mokosh Slavs worshiped a number of deities of a lower order who persofied the various forces of nature, and all kinds of spirits. Presentation of numerous patrons supernatural origin formed the basis of Slavic mythology, which it shares with the more mythologies of ancient civilizations: Egypt, India, Greece, Rome, ect.
